Interim Warehouse, Cross Dock & Yard Manager

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced interim operational leader to stabilise and optimise their fast-paced warehouse, cross-dock, and yard facility. This 3 to 6-month contract suits a decisive manager with pallet network expertise who excels at establishing daily discipline, improving freight accuracy, and building team accountability. You will work directly alongside senior leadership to deliver measurable improvements and leave a lasting operational framework.

What you'll be doing

• Take hands-on leadership of all daily warehouse, cross-dock, and yard operations.
• Implement robust freight controls to eliminate unmanaged pallets and improve stock accuracy.
• Enforce yard traffic management, trailer utilisation, and vehicle safety standards.
• Run daily operational reviews, manage key KPIs, and resolve service issues quickly.
• Coach and support warehouse supervisors and operatives to build consistent standards and high morale.
• Drive strict Health & Safety compliance, site housekeeping, and incident reporting.

What we're looking for

• At least 5 years of proven warehouse management experience.
• Direct background in cross-dock operations and pallet network environments.
• Demonstrated track record of leading operational turnarounds and process improvements.
• Strong yard management and traffic control expertise.
• Excellent people management skills with a visible, floor-focused approach.
• Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and forklift operations.

The Package

• £45,000 – £55,000 per annum (£18.00 – £28.00 per hour, depending on experience)
• 3 to 6-month interim contract
• 23 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays
