Trainee Transport Operator

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00

The Opportunity

Join a well-established container haulage team where you will receive structured training across all core transport operations. Working alongside experienced planners, you will build practical skills in route planning, vehicle scheduling, and fleet management. This is an ideal entry point for an ambitious communicator looking to establish a long-term career in UK transport.

What you'll be doing

• Assist with daily vehicle scheduling and route planning across the fleet.
• Book collections and deliveries while providing clear briefings to drivers.
• Track live jobs and resolve transit delays to keep deliveries on time.
• Update transport management systems with accurate job data and POD records.
• Liaise with customers, depots, and subcontractors on daily progress.
• Support driver debriefs, defect reporting, and transport compliance paperwork.

What we're looking for

• GCSEs or equivalent qualification with strong numeracy and literacy.
• Confident written and telephone communication skills.
• Strong IT proficiency across MS Office or Google Workspace.
• High attention to detail and the ability to multitask under pressure.
• Flexibility for occasional overtime during peak operating periods.
• A full UK driving licence or sound UK geographical awareness is advantageous.
