Night Transport Operator

Take charge of night transport and container operations for a busy logistics team in Felixstowe.

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
Hours: Night shifts with 1-in-4 weekend on-call

The Opportunity

This role suits an experienced transport planner or operator who thrives working autonomously during vital overnight port hours. You will oversee fleet movements, driver allocations, and container scheduling to ensure seamless continuity for the day team.

What you'll be doing

• Book VBS slots and track container movements across port operations.
• Manage night and agency drivers, reallocating jobs and adjusting routes as needed.
• Handle overnight operational challenges, queries, and driver call-outs promptly.
• Monitor live fleet activity using transport management systems.
• Deliver detailed, structured handovers to the incoming day shift.
• Participate in a 1-in-4 weekend on-call rota.

What we're looking for

• Proven operational experience within road transport or logistics.
• Familiarity with container logistics and VBS booking systems is advantageous.
• Hands-on experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to manage and support drivers.
• Ability to work night shifts independently under pressure.

The Package
