Import Freight Forwarder

Manage end-to-end ocean freight import operations with an established logistics specialist in Felixstowe.

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
Hours: Full-Time

The Opportunity

Join an established, privately-owned logistics provider and take ownership of daily ocean import files. This role suits an experienced forwarder looking for a stable, hands-on position within a collaborative team. You will coordinate shipments from origin to destination while delivering dependable customer service.

What you'll be doing

• Manage ocean import forwarding operations from booking through to final delivery.
• Process critical shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading and customs declarations.
• Liaise with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers, and clients on shipment status.
• Resolve operational issues promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Negotiate rates with transport suppliers to protect commercial margins.
• Maintain accurate tracking and job costing records in the freight management system.

What we're looking for

• At least two years of experience in import freight forwarding.
• Solid understanding of ocean freight procedures and UK customs processes.
• Hands-on experience processing Bills of Lading and import documentation.
• Proficiency in industry freight forwarding software and MS Office.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with high attention to detail.
