HGV Class 1 Tramper Driver

Take on nationwide routes with an established transport team operating out of Ipswich on a Monday-to-Friday schedule.

Location: Ipswich
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday (up to 55 hours per week)

The Opportunity

This role suits an experienced Class 1 driver looking for reliable nationwide tramping work without weekend commitments. You will join a well-maintained fleet delivering freight across the UK with strong earning potential through daily allowances and operational bonuses.

What you'll be doing

• Transport freight safely and punctually across the UK road network.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle defect inspections.
• Secure and restrain all loads in full compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate delivery notes, digital tachograph logs, and compliance records.
• Communicate regularly with the transport desk regarding schedule updates and arrival times.

What we're looking for

• Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) driving licence.
• Current Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• Proven commercial driving experience, ideally including nationwide tramping.
• Solid understanding of EU driving hours, Working Time Directive, and load securing.
• ADR qualification is advantageous but not essential.

The Package

• £50,000 - £60,000 per annum (including overtime, allowances, and bonuses).
• Basic rate of £14.50 per hour with £17.50 per hour overtime rate.
• £26.20 tax-free night out allowance and £10.00 tax-free daily meal allowance.
• Additional operational bonuses for splitter trailers, megalift, and hazardous loads.
• 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), increasing with length of service.
