HGV Class 1 Tramper Driver

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday (tramping)

The Opportunity

If you are an experienced Class 1 driver looking for reliable tramping work and strong earning potential, this role is for you. You will operate out of Southampton, handling nationwide freight distribution for a well-established transport operation. The position offers consistent weekday hours with your weekends back at home.

What you'll be doing

• Transport freight safely and efficiently across the UK network.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle defect inspections and load security checks.
• Maintain clear communication with the transport planning team on schedules and delivery ETAs.
• Record accurate driving hours and rest breaks using your digital tachograph card.
• Ensure all cargo is properly restrained to transport safety standards.
• Represent the business professionally when delivering to customer sites.

What we're looking for

• Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• Proven commercial Class 1 driving experience, including nationwide tramping.
• Strong understanding of EU drivers' hours rules and load restraint techniques.
• ADR certificate or experience with splitter/Megalift trailers is advantageous.

The Package

• £45,000 - £55,000 per annum realistic earnings.
• Basic rate of £14.50 per hour with £17.50 per hour overtime.
• £26.20 tax-free night-out allowance plus £10.00 daily tax-free meal allowance.
• Additional bonuses for specialist trailer handling and ADR loads.
• 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), rising with service.
• Annual performance bonus, ongoing training, and free on-site parking.
