Freight Forwarding Team Leader

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum
Hours: Full Time

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced freight forwarder ready to take the next step into operational leadership? In this role, you will lead a collaborative operations team handling multimodal cargo with a core focus on ocean freight. You will manage daily workflows, uphold customs standards, and drive service delivery for key customer accounts.

What you'll be doing

• Lead, support, and develop the freight forwarding and customs operations team.
• Oversee day-to-day ocean, road, and air freight import and export shipments.
• Ensure full compliance with UK customs regulations, CDS, and bonded warehouse standards.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex operational issues and customer queries.
• Negotiate carrier and haulier rates to maintain strong departmental margins.
• Work closely with internal warehouse operations to ensure seamless cargo handling.

What we're looking for

• Demonstrable experience in freight forwarding with previous supervisory or leadership responsibility.
• Strong operational knowledge of ocean freight import and export procedures.
• Solid understanding of UK customs clearance processes and CDS requirements.
• Commercial awareness with proven rate negotiation and workload allocation skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities under pressure.

The Package

• £35,000 - £45,000 per annum
