🗂️ Logistics Purchasing Assistant
📍 Location: Ipswich, Suffolk

🫶 Full time, Temporary  (6 Months)

Are you organised, detail-oriented, and ready to build a career in logistics?
📦 We’re looking for a Purchasing Assistant to support the procurement department by managing supplier relationship and purchase orders.
📞 You’ll be the link between suppliers, Port Agents, Manufacturers and vessels

 

Key Responsibilities:
📅 Coordinate collections and deliveries; book transport and allocate loads
🛰️ Track shipments and proactively update customers and internal stakeholders
📝 Prepare and check logistics documentation (PODs, delivery notes, manifests, etc.)
🚚 Liaise with drivers, hauliers, warehouses and freight teams to ensure smooth flow
🧯 Resolve issues such as delays, missed collections, damages, and re-deliveries
🗂️ Maintain accurate records in transport/logistics systems and spreadsheets
📈 Support planning to maximise efficiency and service levels
✅ Ensure compliance with company procedures and basic transport admin requirements

What we’re looking for:
🎓 GCSEs (A–C) incl. Maths & English (or equivalent)
💻 Confident with MS Office and quick to learn new IT systems
🔍 Strong attention to detail and accurate order/data management

🛠️ Proactive problem-solver, calm under pressure in fast-paced environments

⏱️ Strong prioritisation and deadline management with a sense of urgency
🗣️ Clear communicator with a confident phone manner and customer-first approach
✈️ Willing to travel when required
