Trainee Transport Operator – Felixstowe
Location: Felixstowe
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00 (overtime as needed)

Are you organised, proactive, and ready to build a career in transport and logistics? We’re looking for a Trainee Transport Operator to join our growing team in Felixstowe. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the ropes of route planning, scheduling, and fleet management with full support and training.
What You’ll Do:
  • Assist with daily route planning and vehicle scheduling
  • Book collections and deliveries, briefing drivers clearly and concisely
  • Track live jobs and ETAs, resolving delays and keeping operations on schedule
  • Update Transport Management Systems (TMS/WMS) and maintain accurate job, vehicle, and POD records
  • Communicate with customers, depots, and subcontractors to ensure smooth operations
  • Prepare manifests, delivery notes, PODs, and compliance paperwork
  • Support driver debriefs, defect reporting, and basic fleet admin tasks
What You’ll Need:
  • GCSEs or equivalent education
  • Full UK driving licence (advantageous but not essential)
  • Confident communicator—comfortable on the phone and via email
  • Organised, detail-focused, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Computer literate (MS Office/Google); quick to learn new systems
  • Team player with a proactive, solution-focused attitude
  • Flexible for occasional early starts/late finishes during busy periods
  • Basic UK geography helpful; awareness of drivers’ hours and WTD is a plus
