Overview

Are you an experienced professional in the transport and logistics sector? We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Transport Operator to join our team in Felixstowe. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our transport services, managing up to 30 trucks, and delivering exceptional service to our customers.

Responsibilities

As a Transport Operator, your key responsibilities will include:

• 🚛 Briefing drivers and monitoring live jobs and ETAs.
• 🗺️ Coordinating daily vehicle movements for up to 30 trucks.
• 💻 Maintaining accurate updates in TMS/WMS systems and ensuring PODs are up to date.
• 📞 Liaising with customers, depots, and internal teams to ensure seamless communication.
• 📝 Preparing and managing transport paperwork and records.
• ✅ Supporting driver debriefs and assisting with fleet administration.
• ⚠️ Managing delays or issues and keeping customers informed promptly.
• 🛡️ Ensuring compliance with transport regulations, including driver hours, vehicle checks, and documentation.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

• 🚚 Proven experience in transport or logistics operations.
• 🗓️ Strong organisational and time management skills.
• ⏱️ The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• 💬 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• 💻 Confidence in using TMS/WMS and other transport IT systems.
• 🧠 A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
• 🎓 A Transport Manager qualification (or be working towards one).

Day-to-Day

Your typical day will involve:

• Coordinating and monitoring vehicle movements to ensure timely deliveries.
• Communicating with drivers, customers, and internal teams to address any operational challenges.
• Updating transport management systems and maintaining accurate records.
• Handling driver debriefs and ensuring compliance with all transport regulations.
• Proactively resolving any delays or issues to maintain customer satisfaction.
